In Beauty, I am Home” – Rosana Auqué Exhibition at The Columbus Foundation, New York

A luminous dialogue between Italy and New York through art, memory, and emotion.

“In Beauty, I am Home” marks a defining moment in the artistic journey of Colombian-Italian artist Rosana Auqué.

Presented at “The Columbus Foundation” in New York on September 17th, 2025, the exhibition embodies the artist’s search for harmony — between continents, emotions, and forms of expression.

Two years after moving from Milan to Manhattan, Rosana opened her second solo exhibition in the city that welcomed her dreams. Standing before her guests, she recalled:

“Exactly two years ago, I arrived in New York with many suitcases and a dream — to fill the Manhattan sky with balloons.”

This collection is her homecoming — not to a place, but to a feeling. Each canvas is an intimate meditation on beauty, stillness, and love. Through acrylic, gesso, and metallic varnish, Rosana paints her emotional landscape: where Italian contemplation meets Colombian warmth, and where silence becomes joy.

The central piece, “Il Cielo in una Stanza”, radiates this dialogue — a vision of Italy “closer to the sky,” infused with light, serenity, and affection. The red brushstroke, a recurring element in her recent work, replaces the balloon as a symbol of vitality and transcendence: “the triumph of life over death and fear.”

Her art does not seek to be understood, but felt. “In Beauty, I am Home” invites the viewer to pause, breathe, and reconnect with that invisible space where beauty lives quietly — inside us.

“I painted with my hands, my heart, and my soul.”

Rosana’s technique combines tactile intuition with sculptural surfaces. Each wooden panel is prepared with layers of gesso, giving physical presence to her emotions.

She paints freely — sometimes with brushes, often with her hands — allowing the gesture to guide meaning. Acrylics mix with metallic varnishes, capturing light as both form and metaphor.

Her process is both meditative and visceral; every stroke becomes a prayer, every color a pulse. For Auqué, painting is not representation — it is revelation.

The central and most emblematic piece of Rosana Auqué’s exhibition In Beauty, I am Home, Il Cielo in una Stanza embodies the artist’s vision of Italy “closer to the sky.” Painted with gesso, acrylic, and shiny varnish on a 67 x 67-inch wooden panel, the work radiates energy through its swirling layers of crimson, ultramarine, and gold.

The circular composition suggests both a portal and a heartbeat — a meditation on light, freedom, and transcendence. Each color pulse seems to breathe, transforming the canvas into a living sky where emotion and spirit merge. This piece stands as the visual and spiritual core of the entire exhibition, representing harmony, vitality, and the quiet joy of being.
